Sail to The Newport Boat Show

Boat lovers everywhere, prepare to chart a course to Newport this September! One of the country’s largest and most prestigious boat shows, the Newport International Boat Show -- now in its 48th year -- is packed with boats, exhibits, special events, educational seminars, and training courses all aimed at delivering can’t-miss, float-your-boat fun. Here’s a closer look at what to expect at the Newport International Boat Show this September 13th-16th.

A Love of All Things Nautical

Spanning 13 acres of the City by the Sea’s extraordinary downtown waterfront, the annual Newport International Boat Show brings together a massive range of domestic and international sailboats and powerboats, along with everything else boating enthusiasts need to enhance their nautical lifestyles. Take part in the maritime action each day from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. This year's charitable partner, America's Boating Club, will lend its expertise in education by offering free seminars on weather and boating technology.

Want a lead on what’s new and exciting in the boating world, meanwhile? You’ll find it at the Newport International Boat Show, thanks to its extremely popular 'Newport For New Products' (NFNP) program, which showcases 2019 boat and boating products making their United States debut. Guests who attend Thursday's show will have the opportunity to cast their vote online for the NFNP People's Choice Award. One voter will be selected at random to win a $250 gift card, courtesy of American Express.

The Newport Brokerage Boat Show will return as it has consistently been held concurrently with the Newport International Boat Show. It continues to provide the largest collection of high quality brokerage yachts on display north of South Florida. Marvel at over 100 vessels ranging from 60 to 185 feet on display.

And whether education or entertainment is on your agenda, opportunities abound, including “Confident Captain” at-the-helm training for new boaters or those who want to improve their skills; touring America’s favorite Tall Ship, the 200 ft. SSV Oliver Hazard Perry (The Tall Ship will be docked from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm each Show day); and the premiere presentation of Sailing Into Oblivion - a harrowing tale of Jerome Rand's 271-day voyage around the world.

Even landlubbers will find plenty to experience at the Newport International Boat Show, including concessions at the North Commercial Wharf and appearances by Sailor Donna for children in attendance. Your culinary choices include Boss Man Burgers & Fries, The Newport Lobster Shack and The Pizza Gourmet. Flat Waves Food Shack will also be serving up tacos and açaí bowls on The Bohlin Patio.

A Scenic Location

We can’t think of a better location for New England’s premier boat show than Newport in the fall. The Newport International Boat Show is the official 'kick-off' to the Fall boat show season. Couple all of the seafaring action with colorful coastal views that go on for (literal) miles and you have yourself quite the sights.

Our city's storied maritime history makes a visit to the Newport Boat Show all the more important. Relive the importance of Newport Harbor to our country's past when you stroll down the historic waterfront. And if you’ve attended the Newport International Boat Show in the past, it’s probably on your calendar as a must-do event for 2018. If not, what are you waiting for? The Chanler is on deck to be your “port in a storm” during this year’s extravaganza, so book your stay today.
